Assam coronavirus update: State reports 4,348 new cases, 65 more deaths

Assam s COVID-19 tally rose to
4,11,216 as 4,348 more people tested positive for the infection on Monday while 65 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 3,365, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.
Kamrup Metro reported the highest of 10 deaths, followed by nine in Kamrup Rural, seven in Jorhat, five in Sivasagar and four each in Cachar, Darrang and Dibrugarh districts.
The 4,348 new cases detected during the day include 467 from Kamrup Metro, Tinsukia (445), Kamrup Rural (384) and Nagaon (330).
The new cases were detected out of 1,11,586 tests conducted on Monday with the daily positivity rate at 3.90 per cent while the cumulative tests conducted in the state so far is 1,10,45,702. ....

INOVIO: DoD JPEO-CBRND To Discontinue Funding For Phase 3 INO-4800 Trial
WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - INOVIO (INO) said the Department of Defense Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense has notified the company that it will discontinue funding for the phase 3 trial for COVID-19 vaccine candidate, INO-4800. JPEO informed INOVIO that the decision results from the changing environment of COVID-19 with the rapid deployment of vaccines.
JPEO stated: This decision is not a reflection of the awardee or product, rather a fast-moving environment associated with the former Operation Warp Speed on decisions related to future products.
INOVIO is planning for a predominantly ex-U.S. phase 3 trial for INO-4800. ....

GODFREY On April 6, voters in Godfrey will choose between five candidates for three trustee positions.
Incumbents Jeff Weber and Nathan Schrumpf are challenged by Sarah Woodman, Rick Lauschke and James Ward.
Weber, who grew up in Godfrey, is a graduate from Alton High School and the University of Missouri. He also served was an Army officer. He previously has been president of the Alton School Board, chairman of the Godfrey Planning and Zoning Commission and chairman of the Godfrey Sewer Department.
Weber said he has the skills to maintain the status of trustee for Godfrey. ....
